News on itSMF Awareness Session # 4 of Six
In this event, we had the pleasure of George Spalding, Executive VP, Pink Elephant, managing global events, Conference Chair & ITIL V3 Author, to come down to KL to specially address of our society the interesting topic above.
This event was specially held in Extol Corp M’sia, and we appreciate Justin Tan, CEO of Extol Corp M’sia for allowing itSMF Malaysia in using the conference facilities FOC.
In fact, this event was extremely timely, given the fact that our society had only 3 weeks to arrange for George to fly down from Singapore. We also thank Pink Elephant Malaysia for making this possible.

The problem - “For most of the past 20 years IT spending has been on the increase by whopping factors of double-digit growth. The pinnacle reached its highest in 1999; after Y2K, the global economy got even stronger. Throughout the last two decades we have continued to build, buy and hire without strong governance structures, no long term plans or clear financial goals. As a result, considerable amount of redundancy and inefficiency occurred! “

Thanks to Extol Corp CEO Justin Tan for offering his conference room for our awareness session. Hope to have your kind support again.
The solution - “Make I.T. Green” - is only a window-dressing word and seriously taken for granted. Now during times of severe recession, we must trim the fat and eliminate inefficiencies”. George used gap analysis methods and although it was only 50 minutes of presentation; and 10 mins of Q &A session, George did his ample best using some of the slides to show us how steps forward can be actively applied.
There were some proprietary methods by Pink Elephant as practical solutions; nevertheless the participants went away feeling a sense of appreciation of the benefits of ITSM - in saving money, new ideas that may eliminate I.T. waste, which will result in an improved bottom line.
Overall, we hope to grow the participants interest, with more such events for 2009 throughout 2010. Please encourage your peers, friends to take part pro-actively in all our events. We can be reached at www.itsmf.my.
