Awareness session 7- Pink Is Celebrating 20 Years Of ITIL Experience!

For itSMF Malaysia, this was a great experience being invited by renowed ITIL experts Pink Elephant. The event was held in a 5 star hotel in KL, Malaysia.

CEO David Ratcliffe, accompanied by VP George Spalding came to the event. The actual Pink Perspective event is held over 3 days; i.e. 7-9th Dec 2009 continuously.

It was a great event, witnessing more than 75 participants. It was planned some months back, and Pink Malaysia did a good job of getting attention, giving good delivery of presentation, and got various feedback on the type of course they would be delivering in Jan 201, during their 2 day IT Management Expert Forum. itSMF Malaysia was invited to attend the 1 day seminar. We felt that the participants went away with a good feeling of learning good industry information.

During this event on Tuesday (8th Dec), CEO David spoke about the positive trends surrounding itSMF ‘s new voyage on the effort ITIL v3. This will begin somewhere in 2010, and will show results in 2011.

The industry needs to grow, and he discussed areas related to pass rates, importance of continuous education, organization assessment, and how Pink can be part of a company’s success in implementing manageable projects using ITIL processes.

News on itSMF Awareness Session # 4 of Six

In this event, we had the pleasure of George Spalding, Executive VP, Pink Elephant, managing global events, Conference Chair & ITIL V3 Author, to come down to KL to specially address of our society the interesting topic above.

George Spalding, Exec. VP of Pink Elephant USA. He was jovial and presented in a very enlightening method, albeit rib-tickling jokes – truly a Service Manager. This event was specially held in Extol Corp M’sia, and we appreciate Justin Tan, CEO of Extol Corp M’sia for allowing itSMF Malaysia in using the conference facilities FOC.

In fact, this event was extremely timely, given the fact that our society had only 3 weeks to arrange for George to fly down from Singapore. We also thank Pink Elephant Malaysia for making this possible.

The problem - “For most of the past 20 years IT spending has been on the increase by whopping factors of double-digit growth. The pinnacle reached its highest in 1999; after Y2K, the global economy got even stronger. Throughout the last two decades we have continued to build, buy and hire without strong governance structures, no long term plans or clear financial goals. As a result, considerable amount of redundancy and inefficiency occurred! “Read more

ITIL Qualifications Scheme Survey

When the full ITIL® Version 3 qualification scheme was complete there was always the expectation that the status of the Version 2 scheme would be reviewed.  As part of the process of seeking the views of all major stakeholders, the ITIL® Qualifications Board, led by OGC, commissioned itSMF International to create a questionnaire to gauge the level of relative interest in the two schemes.  The timetable for the eventual phased retirement of the Version 2 scheme will be determined by many factors such as availability of translated exams.  In releasing this survey we acknowledge that customer demand is also a major contributor to the decisions.

By answering the questions in this survey you will have the opportunity to shape the future of the industry.  We have tried to balance meaningful questions without making the survey too cumbersome to complete.  The survey will be available for completion up to the end of Friday 24th July (UK time) so please this opportunity to help us.    Read more
